Secretary's Report

26 February 2010

The Old Georgians’ Association, Taiping continues with its consistent record of 46 years of growth. Against the backdrop of challenges faced, our performance surpassed expectations and bear testament to the resilience and efforts of the Committee of Management. The winning formula was attributed to the leadership of our past Presidents, Mr. Beh Cheng Chuah who had served the Association for more than 37 years and Mr. Paul Loh Eng Wah who had during his four years in office contributed much to nurture the Association to what it is today. The latter also launched the OGA Building Fund and we are pleased to state that to date this fund has neared the one hundred thousand Ringgit mark.

We would place on record Mr. Paul Loh Eng Wah’s contribution to the Association. With his constant strength and support he had transformed the Association to be both active and vibrant, Besides the OGA Building Fund, he had also played a pivotal role in the launching of the OGA website, the news bulletin and OGA Centre. All these achievements would not be possible without his sincere dedication that he had demonstrated. Also as an entrepreneur he possesses the qualities and understanding to handle the charges. With his love and passion to assist the Association at giving nothing less he has churned and spur up its growth of excellence. Our unsung hero will always be acknowledged and remembered. The Association had lost a “true son of SGI” but however he had left the Association in good stead for the incoming President to carry on his legacy.

As we step into 2010, we look forward to the continued support of all Georgians to further consolidate and strengthen the Association. Only with your confidence and support can we achieve our dreams for the well being of the Association that belongs to all of us.  With this vision in hand we are optimistic we will be able to continue to steam ahead and deliver results in the future for the glory of our Alma Mater.

Hon. Gen, Secretary,
